EMC Unity 500 and Unity 500F are mid-range unified storage arrays launched by Dell EMC, representing hybrid (SSD + mechanical hard drive) and all-flash models respectively. They are designed to provide block storage and file storage capabilities and support a variety of data services to meet the requirements of flexibility, cost-effectiveness and ease of use.
Both Unity 500 and 500F feature a 2U chassis design. The disk processor storage module (DPE) supports up to 25 2.5-inch hard disks (the hybrid model is compatible with SAS/SSD, and the all-flash model is a flash drive).
The maximum original capacity can reach 1.1PB. The processor configuration is two Intel E5-2660 10-core 2.6GHz cpus, and the memory is 128GB. The system transmits data through 12 Gb SAS backend connection and optional front-end interfaces such as fibre channel, iSCSI, NFS, SMB 3.0.
This series of products supports unified storage management, integrates in-line compression, snapshots, thin provisioning and other data services, and is compatible with virtualization platforms such as VMware and Microsoft. The all-flash version of Unity 500F is optimized for high-performance scenarios, offering high IOPS and low latency, while the hybrid model strikes a balance between cost and performance. The management interface is based on HTML5 and supports quick configuration and the CloudIQ platform for active monitoring.
Unity 500/500F is suitable for virtualized environments, database applications, and storage needs of small and medium-sized enterprises. Its compact design simplifies rack deployment and lifecycle management.
